This is the ultimate party photographer outfit - my Philips 37″ screen linked by wireless to my Nikon camera. SEE YOUR PARTY PHOTOS AT YOUR PARTY is now a reality and I’ll be part of your entertainment. I can hook into hotel or party venue projection systems but the brightness of this party photo screen is dazzling. I’m already using the amazing 3G USB dongles for high-speed internet when there’s no wired or wireless network available in party venues but Huawei’s latest innovation is a stonking success here at thepartyphotos.net. Stand-by to be wowed by the amazing, pocket-sized wireless router. Simply plug a 3G USB dongle into the router and connect to the internet wirelessly.

At last, it’s possible to use the iTouch as a fully wireless internet device without the hassle of having a high-priced iPhone connection tarrif. Buy a car power adapter and now it’s possible to make your car a wireless zone. Using the Nikon Wt 4 wireless kit this little baby makes it possible to upload image directly to a web site from the party … A Mazing!!!

The WT3 WirelessSetup software fools you into think you can simply edit the data in a profile and re-save. In my experience, this NEVER worked. It took me days to figure out why. Whenever editing the profile, be sure to change the Profile name. You will see in my example the Profile name is NWL6. To change any data in the profile, begin by changing the name to, for example, NWL7 then change data and save the profile.

I’ve now moved on to the Nikon D300 and that meant having to change the wireless transmitter, too. Thankfully, the setup software for the WT 4 seems more solid and it didn’t take long to have the old computer running with the new kit. I’m staying with the Netgear 834, they’re a great little box of tricks. For my party photos outings I mostly only use the router side of this but I’ll always have the modem there if it’s needed. By using the Netgear 834 I don’t have to worry about ad hoc setups. The Mac has three or four locations programmed - one for home, one for the Nikon and one for the Netgear.

I’ve made a simple pdf on how to setup the Nikon WT3 and WT34 using the infrastructure mode with settings for the Netgear 834 and Mac OS X so if anyone wants a copy, just use the contact page on thepartyphotos.net or yourfoto.net

Although their wedding ceremony took place in Canada, Annie and Troy Peliwan celebrated all over again at their party for family and friends held at the amazing Kew Bridge Steam Museum (kbsn) a fantastic and unique party venue. I wheeled out  ThePartyPhotos full kit for this party event. The amazing Philips 37″ screen, running a live slide show with images transmitted instantly from the Nikon, proved to be a huge success with the guests. So often the guests at a party never get to see the photos in which they feature, but the party photo big screen live system means everyone gets to see the photos as they’re taken. Thank You Toby!

The rather cool theme of this website, CaffeLatte, was designed by my son, Toby who created it for his own site, iPhoneCafe. Toby emigrated to Canada three years ago and left me to argue with myself over the twists and turns of Apple and technology in general. Actually that’s not absolutely true, we often jabber for hours on iChat - but it’s just not the same now he’s out of ear clipping range :-)

Would I have tried to put him off Canada? Absolutely not! He’s settled and enjoying a new life with the lovely Debbs in a country where both the air and pavements (sidewalks?) are clean. Thanks again mate, I’ll put your hard work to good use while you put your feet up with a Timmy Hortons cafe latte!

Have one for me Tobs

A Smart Day Out

Earlier this year Ruth and I attended the Smart car 10th birthday outing held at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey. We started out by meeting at the Hertford Mercedes showroom where the guys used my camera to grab this photo of the Fox hole in the wall gang in the Smart Hertford showroom before we set off for Surrey.

Imagine our surprise then when we opened the Autumn/Winter edition of Mercedes News and discovered our photo!

I hope the guys and girls at Smart Hertford remember ThePartyPhotos.net the next time they’re planning a bash. My live big screen will look great in their showroom :-) Sometimes people are amazed when I tell them that I pack my little Brabus Smart with all I need for my party photo shoots … including the Philips 37″ screen, 6ft high stand and base and the Nikon wireless camera gear.

I recently had a great studio session with Emma Radzikowski, a charming dance student who’s local to Potters Bar and together we made wonderful images. I’m always looking to expand my portfolio so contact me and ask about Time For Prints (TFP) a great way for wannabe models to get thier first set of photos without paying a bean! I’ll give you prints or images on a CD and you give your time. I have a studio with pro gear so email to find out more. See more photos at http://yourfoto.net

I’m using a Nikon D300 connected to a WP 4 wireless transmitter so that, at parties, I can run a live slide show. There’s lots of software to run slide shows on a Mac, but to have the slide show update as new images arrive from the camera … that’s another problem entirely. I found the answer in a little known piece of software called Toucan. This neat little package, written by Boudewijn Pelt, is a mere $15 and provides the answer to a live party photographers dreams. Point it at a folder and start with one or two images and then, as other images arrive from the camera, the slide show expands. It can show the slides in strict rotation or randomly. Problem solved!

Games Warehouse, the UK’s leading developer and manufacturer of multi-game SWP’s has grown substantially since being acquired by America’s Merit Industries. Nick Hardy, Group Marketing Manager used The Party Photos Nikon wireless system big screen system to promote their products at the coin-op Preview UK exhibition held at the London Novo Hotel in Hammersmith.
